Getting the Wheeling Fever
Fired the Trooper up this weekend after a 6-month nap û she came right to life. ThatÆs a good thing, but it appears I have developed an oil leak between the firewall and the oil filter housing in fact it drips straight down on the U-joint for the FWD. Pretty steady drip when engine is running. Any common failures back there before I start prodding around?

There is an oil feed tube from the right side of the block to the back of the head. Might check the joints for tight.

Thanks Paul. I like to arm myself with as much information as possible before going in! A brief glance showed a myriad of water, oil and vac lines

Well started to look at this again - it appears it's leaking (slight drip) from around the oil filter base. Is that topsider filter base gasketed to the engine block. Sure is tough area for examination.

Body Damage is Cool
THERE ARE THREE AREAS TO LOOK FOR THERE , THE BLOCK ADAPTER THAT THE OIL FILTER IS ON HAS AN ODD SHAPED ORING BETWEEN IT AND THE BLOCK,, THE OIL COOLER HAS AN ORING BETWEEN IT AND THE ADAPTER BLOCK, I WOULD FIRTS PULL THE OIL FILTER OFF AND CHECK THE CERNTER STUD THAT THE OIL FILTER SCREWS ONTO IF IT IS LOOSE THE COOLER WILL LEAK, AND WHILE THE FILTER IS OFF, AS PAUL MENTIONED CHECK THE SMALL OIL LINE RIGHT AT THE CORNER BEHIND THE OIL FILTER ,IT FEEDS THE CYL HEAD , IT IS JUST A SMALL COPPER TUBE AND A COMPRESSION FITTING AND THEY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO CRACK OR GET LOOSE AND LEAK, JERRY
