I just noticed something with my G/Fs rodeo (2001, 3.2, 4x4). I can't rev it above 3000rpm, ever! I never really noticed it driving, it doesn't suffer any lose of power but downshifting to climb hills it will not go above 3k. Even taking off the line and flooring it, it will shift at exactly 3000rpm, what gives? I know I can get more from the enginge than 3k. The truck is stock except for a lift, I'm not sure what would cause this, computer? I don't know how long this has been going on, we bought it used and I havn't noticed it till now (don't drive it often). Also, I admit I baby my trucks so I really don't get on them that hard unless I really need to.
No codes Shifts and runs fine Near stock
Anyone know whats up?

Sounds weird Those who ever wheeled with me will tesitfy that this engine does a lot more than 3K . I especially have to watch the tach now that it has tera-low.
I know this model has an electronic accelerator (no mechanical linkage). Could this be the issue?

Try to push the transmission knob into the "power" mode and see what's happen.

In POWER mode it will shift above 3000rpm, 4-5k normal. This is also the same in manualy shifting it, I can easily get it above 3000rpm.
So why would it not down shift or up shift in the right ranges during normal driving? Not really a problem, but annoying that I have to hit a button to get any power going uphill. Wierd.

Well are you sure that is abnormal, that is probably where you get the most fuel economy, and on the manual that is where the upshift light comes on.
When I'm just cruising around town in my 3.2 5spd I don't go over 3500 unless I am getting on it and I think this engine has decent power down low. I would think shifting in the same spots on the auto would be the same.
