My truck is leaking fluid from the top of the steering box. There is a big nut on top and four smaller ones just below that.It looks like its leaking from the big nut in the center of the top.I looked at the repair manual and it didnt look like there was a gasket or anything in there? Is that the case is it repairable or do I need to replace the whole unit?

I think KevinC fixed that with an Oring, maybe a mitsu kit?

#12 - O-ring.

Could also be the adjusting nut (#10) or the bleeder screw (#5) Is it coming out from around the square thing (#7)

If its leaking from the nut there is a factory kit that screws on top of the adjuster nut to seal it.

My quick and dirty fix is to use loctite gasket maker #518 on the threads and under the nut.

Just dont mess up the adjustment by turning the screw, just loosen the nut, clean the parts and apply the sealer. Tighten the nut back down and the leak should stop.

I used a copper washer from a brake hose.

It looks like it is leaking from #8 the center nut.But it could possibly be leaking from the square thing as well.Looks like I can take all of that apart without messing up to much correct?

The washer is good for sealing the nut... I had fluid coming up the threaded section on screw #8.

This area is where most of the top of the box leaks come from. I would try fixing the nut before taking anything else apart.
