Anyone here ever make their own tube fenders? I know what's available commercially, but I think the prices are outrageous. Due to a recent misunderstanding between my drivers side front fender and a tree root sticking out of the side of a ravine wall, I'm looking for some tube fenders. does anyone maybe have a link to a site where they show how to build them? It doesn't look too complicated, but I say that about a lot of stuff that winds up being a pain in the butt.

If you want to DIY then maybe you should consider maybe designing something different.

Hell the welding looks like the easy part to me but the fabricating whatnot looks like a *****, unless you have the proper tools of course. Which I dont have....
Im not sure of an online guide but its always helped me to plan out any build using cardboard and tape. Just cut to fit and use the peices as a template for making your actual parts. Just make sure you get the right radius for both sides of the tube fender. Leave that to a shop IMO.

You can make a jig that consists of tubes tack welded to a table. Then heat the tubing with a torch and bend it around the jig. Not going to be quick and easy but you will get better at it as you go.
I know smittybilt makes a fender like what you are describing.
