in my 96 rodeo 3.2 i just did a spark plug change and i notice that number 1&3 spark plug was coverd in oil including the cap that covers the spark plug i have never seen this before should i replace the piston rings or is it something else? just thought i would ask <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

search around the board for this problem I believe there is a problem with the head/valve cover and some type of gasket that allows oil to enter the spark plug boots. May not be a serious engine problem.

Most likely the seals between the valve covers and the spark plug "tubes". If it bothers you enough or is bad enough and you can change a valve cover gasket you can fix this. Unless it is bad I would let it go.

One thing the plugs do is dissipate heat off the combustion.
Having oil in the tubes will impede this to a degree and eventually get into the wire>>rough running. I'd do a vcg change.
