Is there a seperate adjustment for the idle of my 22RE Automatic when it's in D or R, aside from the regular one on the TB? The idle is fine in N or P (900RPM), but when I shift it into drive the idle goes down and the whole truck shakes. Any help would be awsome,

I am no expert, and have the 22re/auto, mine shakes when I put it into D or R and I am guessing it is a vacuum leak. I replaced my EGR, cleaned up the intake flap, replaced the PCV valve and grommet, adjusted the timing, replaced the distributor cap, and wires, and got a major improvement in the idle. Mine was so bad that my foot would hurt.
I suspect there are still vacuum problems though bscause the aftermarket cruise I put in doesnt have enough pull to shift the tranny and it loses lots of speed up hill.
Because I saw improvements in fixing some of the vacuum problems, I am still chasing that idea.
My other theories on this: Torque converter is getting old, although I took it to a tranny shop and the guy put his foot on the brake and gassed it in drive and reverse and said the torque converter is fine. beats me as to what he was doing.) 2. Harmonic balancer is bad (I don't know what this is exactly, but usually something vibrates when it is out of balance, so its a theory.) 3. Tranny mount is bad. The engine is vibrating but I can't feel it in neutral or park because the vibrations are not transfered to the frame. 4.I need to do a valve adjustment. Timing is good, but if valves are off, could I be getting vibrations?
As you can tell I have given this some thought, but not being an expert, my thoughts may be wacko.
I wanna hear other suggestions, hopefully EB will chime in, I am guessing he would know. I have also heard of Toyota engines having this in common, even when new.

Thanks for the suggestions, but does anyone else have anything?

What kind of "shake"? Is the engine missing? Or is it like a busted motor mount "shake"? Gnarls.

As you know, it's supposed to drop maybe 3-400 rpms when in D, this is about what mien does. And mien shakes bit too w/ no throttle on at all, but not bad. It sounds like you have (as mentioned) perhaps a small vacuum leak, or loose/worn mounts (guesses). You'd get the same effect if you put it in park and used the idle screw to idle it down to 500 or whatever. What is the idle reading in D?

I've been chasing an intermittent miss at idle and just off idle for about a month, now. Items that have been recently changed include: igniter/coil pack, TPS, distributor cap, rotor button , plug wires. I also checked the NGK plugs I installed back in January this year and they show minimal fouling, none were 'white' from water in the combustion chamber and all checked out @ .031 inch gap (standard). Tomorrow I'm going to check all the vacuum lines and also give the throttle body ANOTHER good cleaning ( last cleaning was in January when tne plugs went in [before a road trip]}.
I'll keep ya posted.

UPDATE: Strangely enough, it turned out to be spark plugs. They didn't look like there was anything wrong with 'em. I took 'em out and put'em back in. Finally decided to put in NEW plugs. Problem solved. The shake on mine wasn't too violent. You could just feel it in the seat of your pants at idle, in drive. It would also hesitate on acceleration, just off idle. Then, it would be OK.
Try checking the TPS adjustment. TPS being even 'slightly' out of adjustment can cause idle problems.
