OK, so I finally got the 22RE back together and it runs! The only issue I can tell right now is the idle is horrifically high. I disassembled each part of the intake, but I didn't replace the throttle body gasket. The others were replaced. Might this be an issue? I've investigated all of the vacuum lines and they seem to be in order. Anyone have any good ideas on how/what to check first and so on? Also, I think it needs the valves adjusted. Is there a way to do this with a cool/cold engine? I can't see getting the valve cover off in time for the valvetrain to still be warm. Thank you all (especially Enginebuilder) for your help.

I set my valves at .007" and .011" with the engine cold, this seems to keep the valve ticking away. Can you lower the idle with the idle screw? Jeff

I probably could set the idle down with an adjustment, but the engine idled perfectly prior to my fiddling with it. I'm thinking this is an indication of something wrong and i would rather fix that than alieviate the symptoms. Thanks for the valve specs; I'll see how close I am to those this weekend.
