Getting the Wheeling Fever
I go to order headers after several weeks debating if I should. A few weeks back, I was quoted $749 for a pair from trdparts4u.com. I was shocked today to learn from Carroll that TRD has issued a new set (at least in number) and they now cost $1200. I quickly ordered from trdparts4u online. Theirs was listed at $778. An hour later I get an email from trdparts4u saying that they are now $1200. Does anyone know why? Additionally, does anyone know where I could get a set for $750?

If you placed your order at the $778 price then they should honor that price. Let's say that you call a shop for a price and then quote you the wrong price, a good shop will still honor the price quote as it was their error. If they have the price at $778 on the web site, then that is what you should get it for. I'd talk to them again.

May also want to think about JBA headers... ORW sells them for $625. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

For that kind of price, I'd go for the supercharger instead.

Ditto on the JBA headers. They are top quality and perform well. Due to past experience on others trucks, JBA headers was one of the first mods I added to my T100.

They were unwilling to move on the quoted price. Here is their response.

Apparently, the cost of all TRD products has increased ~40%.

I agree with NYT100 that they should honor the price. Especially since they quoted it to me over the phone. I believe it's something they should do for a returning customer.

Very frustrating indeed!

Well, I guess I have to go with JBA. I'd love to get a pair of their titanium ceramic headers, but I have one concern. I need to tig weld a stainless steel bung into the header directly after the collector. This bung will house an O2 sensor for my wideband AFR meter. I'm worried that welding this stainless to a titanium coated stainless will be a problem. Can anyone offer feedback about whether or not this can be done? If so, how?

You can't weld s/s to a titanium coating. You must remove the coating where the weld is gona be. You can try, but this will not make for a good seal. It will be prety ugly too.
You said after the collector. I thought the collector was the end of the line for the header.
Couldn't you put the fitting in the pipe after the header, and before the cat?
Just my $.02 worth. Good luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

You can probably have them weld the bung on before they coat the header. A phone call would let you know for sure.
