Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'll be pulling my engine out for a rebuild and going through my very worn '87 and would like to beef up any and all common items that are known to fail under hard use. Could some of you experts suggest areas that need reinforcement or that commonly break with hard use?

Thanks.

Joa

From what I know, the head gaskets and timing chain assemblies are prone to failure. Look in the tech section for some helpful hints on 22RE rebuilds..

Body Damage is Cool
I've had to repair/replace quite a few things in the front steering/suspension due to lack of maintenance. Don't think the previuos owner had ever heard of a zert fitting.

CV boots, ball joints, steering knuckle, repack hubs, replace brake pads, shocks, bushings, etc. Nothing too difficult, just time consuming. Made a huge differenc in road feel though, I'd say worth it in the long run.
Might check it all out while the head is bieng machined.

Might as well drain a refill your diffs and trans while your already dirty.

How about stuff that's actually broken with hard use? Including systems things that are common (power steering, alternator, etc)?

Thanks.

Good call. I keep a spare in my truck box.

Open up the wire harness for the fuel injectors and remove those butt splices and solder them instead.

Also send the injectors and the CS injector to www.witchhunter.com for reconditoning.
