Anyone have any info on Attarco? (http://www.attarco.com/) They just quoted a rebuilt (with new head)22RE for $1095. I have a friend that seems to think they are a decent shop, but I'm wondering if anyone here has dealt with them or has heard from someone who has?

Check with engnbldr@engnbldr.com he's got a hell of a rep for service, price and quality.

Thanks, I had already checked out his website & it sure looks like they do good work, but there is nothing I could find about selling complete engines, only parts & heads.

no!!!!!!!!! dont go to attarco. i bought a 20r from them a year ago and they do not know squat about engines. i got it home installed it and it ran for 600 miles before it compleatly died. the head was a p.o.s. the cam broke in half under the center bearing cap, ate the head, sent metal all over, and spun the crank bearings. went to rebuild and found that the crank was not originally from that block. they put it together from spare parts then sold it.

Thanks, I saw a couple of horror stories over on Pirate too. If I had the time I'd build it myself, but this has to happen soon.

Half-fast has a L/B in the for sale section; see if he'll ship to ya. He rebuilds these all the time; no comebacks that I'm aware of.

I've also used Sunwest Automotive out of Medical Lake (Spokane) with no problems. IIRC, think Ghostrider got a mill from Mike this winter. Do a google for T-F number if Half-fast doesn't want to ship.

Thanks,I saw half fast's post already, but I'm doing a conversion to EFI as part of this project & his motor is a 81-84. His price is sure hard to beat though.

Sunwest looks promising, I was hopeing to keep it under $1500, but looks like they add in some quality extras.

Not sure what you mean by:

I'm new around here, so who's Mike & whats a T-F number? I know I'll probably slap myself up the side of my head when you tell me, but that's easier than beating my head into a wall trying to figure it out ;o)

Yes 'she' does.
FWIW, Jasper builds reliable 22REs. Bit more than you want to spend, but 3 yr. warranty.

I'd go EB personally...

Telephone number! <<slaps side of head>> I kept trying automotive related words....

Jasper wants $2336
Sunwest is just under $2000 I emailed to see about shipping.

EB doesn't list complete engines on his website so I'm assuming he doesn't sell them online. Anybody know for sure?

Those $488 heads he sells sure look sweet...hmmm $260 for master kit,& $80 for cam = $828 Anyone know what a shop charges to go through the block?
