Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 89 22re, so why when I start it the rpms are around 2000? once it warms up it idles around 800. also after I start it half way before it is fully warmed up i hit the brakes and the rpms cut out then go high , repeat.(this is due to the rmps being too high, I think) any suggestions? my 87 22re starts up perfect and idles at 750 all the time, cold, hot doesn't matter.

Sounds like there's something wrong with both your trucks. There is suposed to be a high "cold idle" so the 87 isn't working quite right. And the 2k cold idle in the 89 sounds a little high. The brakes do trigger an idle up function (as they are vacuum assisted), how long is the delay from dropping to jumping of the idle?

depends on how hard I drive the truck when it starts up. usually 2 blocks
