Getting the Wheeling Fever
also I thought while I do have both a stock 22re and a "upgraded" 22re in a different truck I might as well share the differences that I experience. so far the "upgraded" 22re has a street rv head and a 268 cam from eb. The stock 22re is in a 87 extended cab 4x4 manual tranny 31's and the "upgraded" is in a 89 4runner 4x4 manual tranny 31's. so far the 4runner is a faster drive. It gets up and goes. It feels like a sports car compared to the truck. It doesn't have the top on right now. And the speedo dosn't work so no gas milages to compare. But i'll keep you updated if you like. if not in this tread then in my "project build"

Body Damage is Cool
i'm about to toss EB some more business. i did my timing chain with his parts last fall in my '91 and apparently i got one of those one-in-a-million tensioners that stopped working a couple months ago looking at how sludged the engine is, i'm thinking that something broke loose and lodged in one of the oil holes.

i think i'm gonna rebuild the thing now, it's got 190,000 miles on it and though it runs great(other than the chain racket), i'd like to refresh it and get some more power from the old 22RE.

probably going to do the street RV head route, with one of EB's cams. which one, i can't decide! i've got a 268 in my '79, and it seriously hauls. this thing is more for towing my boat and dd duty...any ideas?

and to keep this somewhat on topic, my 20/22 hybrid will outrun the 22RE any day of the week, though the 22RE seems to have a little more torque...
