Been having problems with my truck leaking a lot of oil. I don't drive it that much, since I work from home now, but I really want to get it right, and I don't like dripping oil on the environment and I don't want to see my truck go up in flames. So, I pulled my oil pump to replace the seal again. Long story, but a shop did my timing chain, messed it up, then I had to do it again. Since the seal was installed not so long ago, i thought that it would be okay to leave it. after the truck kept leaking from that area (I think!) I thought I would give it another shot. I pulled it off and I found the lip "chipped" near the end, probably from where the shop replaced any. Questions are: Should I replace it or just run it? I am leaning toward replace it. BTW, I called the stealership cause I have it torn down now and I didn't want to leave it that way and they want $210!!! So, I called Ted... no answer... smile it's Saturday I guess. LOL. I'd rather go with Engbldr anyway...Maybe a HV???

Sorry for the poor shots, but my camera... Anyway, the oil pump is sitting on my drain pan and the yellow you see is the vapor release thingie.

Also, i need a source for a crankshaft pulley. Mine has grooves in it where the oil seal rides on it, so I don't think it will ever seal like that. I guess I need to replace that. Anybody seen this before?

very hard to tell by the pics ... but for the price , I would say replace .

also ... look ar the timing cover , where the pump mounts , It is "part" of the oil pump system . If it has grooves , it will reduce oil pressure . There cheep enough , I'd say replace it as well .

as for the pully , just get a "speedy sleeve" only about 7bucks (here in Canada)

The timing cover is new, so no worries there. Just spent half hour at pep boys. They want $33 for the speedi-sleeve and it's a special order. Earlier today before I read your post i picked up another pulley from the junkyard for $60 so I'll slap that one on there. It has a smaller groove. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
