Hi;

Well, last night I ran into a little bit of bad luck on the way home from work: I hit a bull! Anyway, I damaged my hood, my passenger side front fender, my passenger door (the sheet metal was dented in) and lost a head light! My bumper, I think, is salvagable. I only have liability on my insurance policy and none of ths is covered.

Are there any places that offer direct replacement parts for toyota trucks? Any nudges will greatly be appreciated!

Okay, after some searching I've found www.partstrain.com! Has anyone ever used them for body parts or the like? If so, how was the quality and service? Also, how much would it cost to get those parts painted up (hood 'n fender) to match what I've got now? Just curious! Thank ya!

Before you go spending big $$$ for new. Check www.car-part.com for parts/yards near you.

Yeah, I know all about car-part.com. I was asking about partstrain because they've got their NEW stuff cheaper than anything that's used and abused here locally! My only beef is that the shipping is murder!!

Thanks for the nudge, though!

Well, that may be one of the downsides to living in a more remote area! You're not near too much.

Yeah. It's a pain sometimes, but it's worth it overall! Gotta drive 100 miles round trip to get to the nearest shopping mall or, to a lesser extent, Wal-Mart.

I'm gonna post some pics of the damage later tonight so you all can check it out and laugh, because it is kinda funny lookin' back on it...sorta...not really...ugh!

I have used aftermarket body parts (not made in Japan, not OEM) on a couple of vehicles, my truck and my Daughters Honda. They are OK, not a perfect fit but real close. If you can believe it I think the metal is thinner then OEM. I use them on the wheeler because they are cheap, the last front fender I bought was $26.00 and the chrome grill was $30.00 and the front marker light was $15.00. If you do not care that they are a perfect fit aftermarket is the way to go. If you want OEM, fit and quality find someone who is parting out a truck and buy the OEM parts.

Painting is another subject, cost depends on the quality of the job and the materials, some places will paint the complete vehicle for 3-4 hundred dollars, but remember you get what you pay for.

Okay...here's some pics:

[Linked Image]

There's the damage to the door. It's not too bad and could possibly be fixed by a body shop. Hopefully!

[Linked Image]

Hood and grill guard got damaged as well. The grill guard can be saved ( I think), but the hood is kinda questionable.

You can see a little bit of everything that was damaged. Again, all things considered, the damage ain't that bad...
