I've been looking around now for awhile for a intake system to go with my exhaust setup i'm going to be installing in the next few week's. The cat will be removed and i'll be running a 2 1/4" pipe from the y off the manifold exhaust to the muffler, and from the muffler out to the end running a 2" pipe. The Muffler will be a flowmaster, not sure what type, probably 40. I've been unsure or unable to find an intake kit till i flipped through an old issue of my off-road magizine and gave me the stylinconcept.com web page. I appear to have found one that will work and have pasted the link below.

But the best bang for the buck would be moving the AFM to where the battery is, and vice versa, so you have a nice short-ram intake.
Also, build a cold air box around the afm intake.

i think you've got your pipe diameters backwards. run your 2" from the manifold to the muffler, and your 2.25" from there on.

I second this.
Save your money, and do the following.
Remove the whole intake line from throttle body forward, pipes and all. Stash it in storage.
Now move the battery over to where the air filter/box was. This requires some expense on good quality starter/ground cables but it's worth it.
Now, hit a junkyard and buy an AFM from an '82-83 Supra. Quite magically, the pinout on teh connector is the same, and it is 3" on both sides. Perfoect for a cone folter.

Now get on eBay, and buy an elbow fitting that is 2.5 or 2.75" on one side and 3" on the other. Silicone is nice but good ol' rubber is fine too. I bought one for about $7.
Wit hsoem work, you can stick that AFM w/ cone right on the end of the TB, using the elbow, now that teh battery is out of the way.

The bigegst PITA of this conversion is taht you have to extend the cable/connector for the AFM to the ECU. Spend the time and make sure the conenctiosn are good, using quality pins etc.

FWIW the Supra AFM is not necessary but makes it easier, sicne you can't just stick a cone on teh end of the OE AFM (hole is too small).

If you MUST run a K&N, at least put a foam prefilter on the dang thing and oil the foam with No-Toil oil. Plain K&Ns filter inadequately for off-road use. Rather than renew an old debate, do a search- it's all been said before.

Agreed. I should have noted that I have one that normaly resides over mine, I just hadn't slipped it on yet when I took the picture.
I ran it w/o a cover for a short bit; when I took off the hose and looked into the TB I was shocked at how dirty it was (I'd rebuilt/cleanedt he top end not long beforehand).

I will be honest, too - the difference in "power" is not very profound. It does sound cooler though, and my MPGs improved slightly. However that alone would never justify (to me) the high cost of a pre-made kit.

I didn't realize it till i got home that i forgot to mention it was a 22R, so would the supra option till work since i saw your picture showing that it had EFI. The other thing is reason why i said 2.25" from the Y off the manifold to the muffler is this is what i've seen done and i've even asked a few shops. I can do a 2" if that would be a better ratio for both 2" in and out. Just what someone suggested so was going to give it a try.

been thinking of this short ram intake if what how do i can fix this one. it troubles me a lot.
