Mac route 66 in the summer is about the hottest place on earth! And not much more in the winter either. Go north young man go north.

Mac, this is getting interesting! I was thinking you should consider whether this is a true car trip, or a four wheeling trip. At this time, it seems to be a car trip! You're traveling plans put you near America's foremost four-wheeling venues! Perhaps a Corvette for Route 66 would be more apropos! If you need some four wheeling destinations, perhaps we (members) can be more help directing you to some scenic Jeep trails suited to your offroad experiences and your rig to make your trip a memorable one! Pretty much, the cities and interstates are the same out west as they are back east! If you're coming this far, I would recommend spending some time four wheeling and camping. Sitting in LA's traffic really isn't a scenic four-wheeling destination!

Well I hope you are a younger than me because I took a 300mi trip in a 98 TJ this last Saturday and my back was killing me still on Sunday. Either buy a Sam's clubs size bottle of Ibuprofen or a lumbar support, or same trail max seats like my YJ.

I did the 1900 mile trip from CT to CO twice, once in our new 95 Grand Ch Ltd in 5 days. That was fun. 2nd in our new Merecdes ML500 V8 and it took us 37 hours non stop. NEVER want to do that again. My daughter was getting married on 9/14/01 so everything was canceled. Only way to get there was a straight drive from CT to CO.

Just be careful not to take on too much because it will be a grind after awhile, especially coming home (in a Jeep yet ). Have fun.

Stop in Memphis and go to the Rendevous barbeque joint. It's down in an alley behind the Peabody Hotel. Best ribs I've ever had. Then hit up Beale St. at night. B.B. King's bar is down there. You can do all of this and camp at Shelby-Meeman State Park down by the Mississippi River. I'm a die hard Texan, but I love Memphis. Not a whole lot of wheelin around there, but loads of fun to be had.

Other then that, Im not sure what else to check!

get your a/c checked. you'll need it on rt.66. Flagstaff should be nice and cool though. When you get there check out the cinders ohv area. it's right outside of town.
