Body Damage is Cool
So IÆve been having problems with my 2.6 in my amigo. A bad sound thatÆs kind of like a really bad wheel bearing at 60mph. But it's coming from the engine. And it also has a bad idle. So long story short, IÆm pulling things apart looking for the problem. I thought it might have a bolt or something stuck somewhere behind one of the timing belt sprockets so I pulled all the belts and pulled the balancer, so that I could get the plastic lower timing belt cover off. And it was a pain.

So IÆm thinking I might cut the bottom of the cover off so that if I have to take the cover off again I wonÆt have to pull the balancer off.

I thought I would just cut a small section out, say about 4ö wide section, see pics.

So is this a good idea or a bad idea?

WON,T REALLY HURT ANYTHING STEVE , EXCEPT THAT THE LOWER END OF THE BELT MAY GET INTO SOME SAND OR WTR , I HAVE SEEN THEM DONE THIS WAY A NO OF TIMES , ESP ON SOME OF THE RACE MTRS IN THE PICKUPS ,,JUST ANGLE YOUR CUT OVER AS CLOSE TO THE LOWEST MOUNTING BOLTS SO YOU WILL HAVE THE BOTTOM SUPPORTED JERRY

I wouldn't do it my friend had a eagle talon and was out rallying and some mud got in a hole in the timing cover and broke the belt and bent the valves.
