What is the difference? What should I replace mine with on my 93 toyota 3vz-e V-6? I don't know if the stocker is a 2 or 3-way unit. Should I go with the stock 2" inlet or go to 2.25 or 2.5"? I am re-doing everything from the exhaust manifolds back. Thanks...

2-ways are primarily a diesel application. After 1981, 3-ways became the standard for gasoline to reduce nox emissions.
You want to open that up a little bit, but not by much. The 3.0 crossover flow is choked down, where burning the #4 and #6 exhaust valves became a typical problem. Headers are a popular workaround for that.
I'm just a 4-banger Yota head. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
You're out on Eielson aren't you? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
Cat trivia:
A three-way catalytic converter has three simultaneous tasks: Reduction of nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxygen. Oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. Oxidation of unburnt non-methane hydrocarbons (HC) to carbon dioxide and water.
Since 1981, three-way catalytic converters have been at the heart of vehicle emission control systems in North American roadgoing vehicles, and are also used on "Large Spark Ignition" engines. LSI engines are used in forklifts, aerial boom lifts, ice resurfacing machines, and construction equipment.
A two-way catalytic converter has two simultaneous tasks: Oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. Oxidation of unburnt non-methane hydrocarbons (unburnt and partially-burnt fuel) to carbon dioxide and water.
This type of catalytic converter is commonly used on diesel engines to reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions. They also were used on spark ignition (gasoline) engines in automobiles up until 1981, when they were replaced by three-way converters due to regulatory changes requiring reductions on NOx emissions.

Go slightly bigger all the way back. I'd do a 2.5". Magnaflow 91006 should work perfectly. If you want to do 2.25, then 91005. They go for about $55.

so 3 way is the "way" to go. I guess I'll go with 2.5". I already have a 2.5" magnaflow muffler to put on.
So I am down to these two right now: MPE-91006 MPE-94106. They are identical in each characteristic execpt for "GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT"; on is 4500lbs and the other 6000lbs. Which is the correct choice?
I intend to remove the x-over pipe and run the pass side tube down then x-over under the tranny and reconnect to the single exhaust. Altough this may happen later.
I was on Eielson from 99-06, but now I am in Dayton, Ohio.
Thanks for all the input!
