Body Damage is Cool
I was in the parking lot backing into a space, when I stepped on the clutch it went straight to the floor. True enough, when I checked the reservoir, it was empty. A look under the vehicle (using the nifty cargo compartment flashlight <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ) revealed the cause, a leaking clutch slave cylinder.

This is the second time it has happened to me. The first one was a few years ago and I just had the local mechanic put in a repair/rebuild kit. This time, I'm going to change the whole slave assembly.

How hard is it to DIY this job? How do I go about removing the old and installing the new? How do I bleed the system afterwards.

Thanks.

If it only lasted "a few years" the bore must be damaged (which in turn damages the rubbers). Or dirt in the reservoir?

Bolt off
bolt on
fill with DOT4
blead (friend/SWAMBO to help here).

For a caveman like me, your instructions were great. Sounds like a simple enough job.

How do I bleed the lower part? Is the bleeder screw the one on the right part of the photo?

Do I also need to bleed the clutch master? And how do I do it?
