After my T100's 10 year anniversary last month it was time to fix up a few things. Successful surgery on the power antenna, had to strip the wheel well and disassemble the drum to get the old mast out. Forgot how nice it is to have that feature!

Also added dual 55W backup lights on the hitch frame - Wow!

Now I'm ready to crack 85K this summer! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Here's to another 10! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

You are right...these are exceptional trucks. Mines has over 170,000 miles and runs stronger and better than ever.

Mine is almost 11 years old, at 208,000 miles. I've put about $25,000 worth of gas through it so far. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I just wrecked mine last month in a horrible accident that only God and Toyota saved me in. I passed out (fainted), ran down in a ditch, back up the other side, and the truck rolled several times. The doors didn't even come open. It was a 1997 T-100 with almost 150,000 miles and still running really great. I now have a 2006 Tundra 4x4. Anyone want to buy a brand new idler (maybe it's idle, I don't know) arm for a 1997 T-100, I had just bought it and was about to put it on the truck when I had the wreck? Anyone interested just pm me and name a price, I'm just wanting to get it off of my hands.

What kind of backup lights did you put on?

I tried to put a set of cheap driving lights on the rear bumper. Worst decision I ever made. They cost $40 and took me a good part of a Saturday to make the installation correct. When I turned them on I couldn't tell the difference, they worked a total of 3 times before the switch gave out, and they filled up with water the first time it rained.

Aux Backup lights:

I bought a no-name $20 kit at the local Meijer superstore. I was skeptical but gave them a try for the $$. They each have a 55W bulb; I added a 30A relay and used the OEM reverse light as a 'On' signal, hardwired the 15A supply lead to my battery. Whole relay shebang fits inside the rear corner lens cover assembly well, as does the trailer harness wiring block with room to spare. These lights are low profile rectangular and simply strap onto the hitch frame with 2 large HD wire ties per lamp. [I plan to add some stainless piano wire as a safety strap.] The kit came with a wiring harness, I used wire ties to lash it way up high out of the way above and inside the rear bodywork.

The lights have drain slits in them, I positioned them for maximum protection in line with the hitch frame horizontal member, as far outboard as they could go for maximum spread. I have 31" tires so extra extra ground clearance, can aim slightly down so the beam clears the bumper.

I tested them first night after install, even before pitch dark with neighbor's outdoor lights on they lit up my whole driveway in a 30 ft x 30 ft area and cast shadows on my neighbor's trees and house over 50 ft away.

110 Watts of total bulb draw is some plenty big candlepower on a vehicle; same as my 6" aux. driving lights up front.

Hard part was the wiring, if the lights fail or get smashed I just strap on and plug in a new one[s]. That's why I went cheap with the driving lights as well; could not see $$$$$ for Hellas, etc. only to lose them in a fender bender or from a stray gravel chip on the interstate. My total aux. lighting expenses are less than $75 including relays and wiring, I'll light up the woods with the best of them! [OK; I'll confess to adding PIA superwhite bulbs to the front, add extra $50 for those H3s and well worth it!]

Now I fear no darkness ahead or behind! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

i agree, the t100 is like wine, it only gets better with age. i have 236k miles on mine and only have had to do a few things to it (radiator, clutch, a/c leak, rear transmission seal). i'd like to see a domestic hold up as good with as few problems.

i also like the classic look of the t100...as in it has that 89-95 hilux/1st gen tacoma transitional look to it.

I've got just over 160K on my T and it is running as smooth and getting as good mileage as ever! I got almost 22MPG on an all interstate tank a couple of weeks ago and almost 21MPG on a tank with a mix of interstate and mountain roads (MD, WV). Around town (for me 50/50 interstate/stop and go) I can get 18 with no boats on top - with boats it can drop to 16-17.

My 97 4WD SR-5 still has 44K and is in perfect condition. Maybe someday I'll retire from the Navy so I can get it out of the garage and drive it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/oink.gif" alt="" />

I'll keep my T100 till the frame, drivetrain and bucket seats rot. By far the most versatile vehicle I've owned - <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
