I'm leakin' oil at the bellhousing/oil pan area, and replaced the rear main seal only a few months ago. Granted it could be a bad seal again, but now I think I should have put on a speedy sleeve as well. I'm loosing more than a quart a week.

I tried to look the part up, but am gettin' four or five different names for the same part, or maybe it's not the same. I'm confused.

I've got a 1983 Toy pickup, 22R. Tried autozone and got three different numbers, under 6 or 7 different names. Tried napa and the only repair sleeve was for a tranny.

Would anyone mind tellin' me what part number for Autozone or Napa is the one I really need? Much appreciated!

I read on this or a similar forum that you can shave teh vack of teh seal so that it sits further back in the hole, thereby resting on a good part of the shaft. THe individual making htis suggestion promoted the idea that the speedy sleeves are guaranteed to leak.

Okay, this I've never heard of, could anyone elaborate?

Also, I finally found two different parts from Napa. Both titled "Crankshaft Repair Sleeve - Rear"

Same price, but the only difference is their size. One says, ".820" Wide Reground Shaft Diameter: 3.123" and the other says, "3.149" Shaft Diameter."

This is newbie, but which one is the one I need?

>>*I have seen the poster's comments about gauranteed leaks, but I have been using sleeveNseals (speedisleeves) to repair worn cranks and dampners for around 25 years.

They will probably all start leaking someday...*LOL**..

There are two versions, one design is for use usually by crankshaft shops. They grind down the shaft, then install the seal ring to create a new seal surface.

The other kind is for use by repair shops, it is thinner. A bead of RTV is applied to the groove and the new ring installed over that.

So the larger is the one you will need, they work very well to stop oil control problems....*EB

*Beats the he** outa me!....*LOL**...

Good Grief! That was some bad spelling. I am surprised you could tell what I wrote!
Thanks for the clarification, I wondered how they didnt leak between the sleeve and shaft. I bet the guy that says they leak didn't know that.
