Getting the Wheeling Fever
Is there an easy way without taking out the ring gear and carrier to get the axle shafts out? I know they're held in with the C-clip all I need to do is replace a bolt stud on the shaft because one broke off. I don't want to do all this just to replace a wheel bolt stud. I've been reading threads and all they say is how to re-gear the Ford 8.8'' I don't need those. If i were to take the carrier out and the ring gear i'd have to do backlash measurements and all that good stuff to replace em.

thanks

Yes very easy... just take the spiders out and you are in business. Leave the carrier alone!

You have to pull the cover, remove the cross shaft, push the axle in, then remove the c-clip.
