Ok I am putting an automatic in my 99 TJ. I have an opportunity to get a AMC Turbo 400 for 75 bones and want to know how important is the crankshaft positioning sensor? I know you can get the kit to move it to your harmonic balancer but thats an additional 300 so really not worth it I would just get a 99 tranny, but I know that the 400 is an awesome tranmission...

Without it your jeep will not run. The 999 isn't that bad of an auto, and will be cheaper in the long run. Or you could get the adapter and a 4" grinder...

I know XJ's have a PCM controlled trans, you'd need the whole engine management computer. Get an old 999 out of a YJ.

Thinking about the other end of the tranny, unless that T400 has been adapted already your transfer case won't bolt up to it.
