Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have slowly been changing over some. Small counter-sunk with allen heads and larger ones with regular bolts. And how about the mix of Metric and SAE?!?!?!

Back in the game!

Some of the metric heads have SAE threads! Nothing makes sense does it?
Many years ago a bill was passed and signed by whatever president was there at the time...around 74 I think. The LAW was that we (USA) would convert to metric with in 10 years.. Well we got the law and then nothing happened after that.
So as a result now anybody can put whatever they want on ANYTHING!
The bolts in the roll cage are a result of the LAWYERS trying to make the roll cage stay on the vehicle. Making it as hard as possible to remove would help their case in court if someone DID take the cage off.
ALL lawyers should be sent to the front lines...ASAP! And yes any present company is included.

Busted how? Twisted off? So, you think it wouldn't have busted if it weren't torx? I don't mind Torx on small stuff, I'druther not have Torx on anything larger than 1/4". The keys to dealing with torx heads is to have the best quality bits and clean holes to put them in. It's worth spending time to scrape all dirt, paint and rust out of the Torx head as step one. A PITA yes, but after it's damaged it's too late. If the bolt or screw breaks becaused it's siezed, well, it makes no difference if it's Torx or not. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

To what benefit is it to spend one millisecond cleaning/scraping a torx bolt just to remove or tighten it?
Tighten? did I say tighten?...I think NOT... all torx removed are tossed into scrap metal bins and customers are happy to pay for new fasteners. Headlight adjusters don't count. they don't strip.

C'mon Supe! We've all come upon phillips, allen and torx bolts that had so much crud in them that the tool would not seat correctly. Specially them yankee Jeeps! Them things are full to the brim with rusty crud! You have to dig it out, and then hope they don't twist off.
