I'm using the EFI parts from an 87 runner on my 84 PU extended cab.
I just discovered the filler inlet on the runner fuel tank is quite a bit further forward than on the PU. Looks like it's gonna be right behind one of the bed mounts.
It looks like it can be worked out with a couple of tight bends, just wondering if anyone in here has a slick solution that might save me some head scratching.
Thanks,
Dave

Email CJM about his fiberglass filler door components; I take it you're looking to do some sheet metal work with this one? Yeah, frames are different, hence the fitment. www.toyotafiberglass.com IIRC, $25.

id try and find another tank, for a pickup. dont really think its worth the hassle. tanks can be had for relatively cheap from a junkyard. you can swap the sending unit over to another tank too.

from what I understand in the post ... what I know ,the differance between the USA style bed filler & the Japanese filler .. They are different ... and DONT interchange .
My advise .. is get the Japanese fuel filler inlet tube , and spout .. and use that .

Nooooo I'm looking for a clever way to re-route the filler hose from the 87 runner tank to the 84 PU opening. It would be a piec of cake if I could just cut out the bed mount braket Dave

I'll have to check on that. I'm told by a friend that the tanks at the "u-pull-it" type yards around here are almost always punctured, but maybe a regular salvage yard might be more careful. Does anyone know for sure if this is a runner/truck difference or a 84/87 model year difference? Dave

My problem is that the 84 USA pickup filler location & the 87 USA 4runner filler location are different by about 6-8" & so are the inlet locations on the tanks. Could you elaborate on how the Jaapanese parts will work with my parts? Any idea where I'd get those parts? Dave

just cut the bed mount then. unless you haul alot of heavy stuff it won't make a difference. if you are going to wheel, lose the fear of the saws all.

Dave Dave sorry ,I read it wrong ... filler necks are different between the 2 units , but I dont think thats what your asking . you just need a longer filler hose ? back in the old days , body lift kits came with a filler "extension" .. cut the hose and clamp the extension inbetween ... othere then that .. you'll have to cut the mount .

I know what you're talking about, on the pickup the filler door is right above the fender flare, where on teh 4runner it is about 6" forward. If you want, weld it shut, and get a 4runner door and pocket (looks better IMO) or you can just get a hose that has an "S" bend in it, to make up for the difference, and place it inline of the filler neck.
