Hey guys,

Anyone know the part numbers for either the ignition coil or the whole assem. including the power transister?

I have had an issue with mine for some time and there is nothing in the bone yards around me. I finally gave up and started calling stealerships and they won't give me any info without having a VIN #, the truck is at home and by the time I get there the dealers are closed and I always forget to write the vin down and bring it to work with me...

I'm not sure, but it appears the '89 and '91 coils are the same according to RockAuto

The FSM lists the '89 part # as MD131711 - but it appears to include the power transistor - and it should for $190 list/$145 discount price at Olympia

I tried to use my Wincaps program to check, but can't get it to work for some reason. You should check with a dealer and find out what comes with the coil and then judge whether you want to try just a coil from an aftermarket supplier. I think you can get the power transistor separately from aftermarket folks as well... but the total for both in good quality might be close to OE at a discount. You also might call RockAuto and find out if their aftermarket units are coil only or if they include the power transistor.... very little info is available at-a-glance.

Mitsubishi used the same coil and igniter on other models. Look for other V6 6G72 engines in the junkyards.
