Need a Spot
I am in the process of restoring an 85 cj7 and am reviewing my insurance coverage to make sure that it is adequate in the event of an accident or theft. My current auto insurer will only cover the "cash" value of the vehicle which they list as $1500. The tires and wheels will cost more than that to replace. How do you guys insure your jeep? This will be a non-primary vehicle. Do older Jeeps qualify for collector or antique coverage? Thoughts?

85 isn't considered antique/classic. The ins. cos. like Grundy want 25 years or older, will require pictures, locked hard garage, only an occasional drive, not a daily driver. Some have milage restrictions, ~2300 per year.

I pay about $98.00 per year for full coverage on my 1948, BUT, it's hardly ever on the road.

I don't think any ins. company will ever reimburse you for the money you put into your Jeep.
