Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have a '90 ram50 with a 3.0 with intermittent starting problems. When the problem occurs, its only on the first start of the day, usually when its a cool morning or after sitting for a long time. Motor turns over fine, it just won't catch to start. Takes several long cranks before it finally turns over. After that first start of the day it starts right up on the first crank for the rest of the day. I'm suspecting some kind of fuel problem. Is it possible for water to condense in the fuel lines or something? What do you guys think? Thanks.

Mine does it too. It's probably either the fuel pressure regulator leaking of the fuel pump leaking. Either way, you end up with an extended crank after it sits for a while.

Mine too, and I figure the same cause. I flick the key to start very quickly several times before I let it revolve the motor. Then I flick it from off to on several times. This seems to prime up enough fuel pressure that a no right foot start will get it stumbling, and some judicious throttle feathering will get it up to some good rpms, and it seems all right after that, except for a surging idle, and my isc is beyond shot...

Hey guys,
Has anyone tracked down the cause of this starting problem?
I've had no luck with mine.
If the truck sits outside overnight and there's any moisture(rain or misty conditions) I've got the exact same problem with my LWB.
I inevitably end up spraying the electricals with some WD40and it seems to help.. but maybe it's just the fuel making it's way thru the system...

My 94ls had the same problem too but i fixed it. Measure your engine coolent temperture senor resistance to see if its in spec. Chances are its out of range. Replace it, that should cure the idle surging and the hard start.

That is something I haven't tried.
Although to date I've thought it was...
ignition control unit/module thingy...
spark plugs/wires...
dizzy cap/rotor and the rubber seal between the dizzy and cap...
fuel pump or filter...
timing off...
automatic shift lever contacts...
water in fuel...
and a bunch of things I can't remember...
