Dealer wants me to bring my 2002 runner in. Isn't this just a oil change fluid inspection - mechanical inspection service? I already replaced my brake pads (coupon attached to letter: $129.95) and did an oil/filter replacement and also last month did the ball joint recall issue.

Ask them to print out the service schedule for you; have your VIN handy...I got one for the 99 Runner I just picked up without a maintenance history on it. They didn't bat and eyelash, and voila, it's in my folder. The schedule tells you what is inpected/serviced/replaced.

Look it over. If you're past your warranty, just regard it as an attempt to soak your wallet.
