Mabe a silly question but why does it matter if you use fram oil filters

To put it nicely, FRAM filters are not very high in the quality department. In fact, they are not even close to the middle of the road either. Materials, filter area ect are all less than desirable.
There are better filters out there than FRAM.

I'm just hoping he doesn't find pieces of the filter all up inside the oil galleries...
There's a website where a guy has dissected dozens of different brand filters. He did a good job presenting his findings. He found "that" brand to be basically junk. I don't have the URL handy, but you should be able to find it if ya Google.
But, let's not hijack this thread, cuz I really wanna know what he finds.

Here's the links to at least one of them ... Linky 1 And here's a link to a letter supposedly from a production engineer at Allied Signal (they make Fram) and he's even saying not to buy a Fram ... Linky 2 Richard

I'll put my wild guess on a failed pickup tube or o-ring.

Well good to know because i have just changed from a fram to a generic filter. My oil pressure started to act wierd after i put the fram filter on but it was around 1000 miles after it so i didn't put the two together. thanks.

Well I dropped off my "spare" block off at the machine shop.
So IÆll post up some pics of my second 2.6 buildup once I get it back.
And this time IÆll run the oil pump before I drop the block in, so I know its working. And IÆm going to get a REAL oil pressure gauge.
But this time; no shop to work in, and no air tools. But it shouldn't take me near as long since itÆs the second time around.
