Thanks one and all. I surely do appreciate any and all thoughts.
Good point, Frank, I do believe I've had a little drip down there for a while and, truthfully, because I had several issues going on at the same time, I folded up the hose, tied it off and forgot about it.
Time for a revisit.
I believe the game plan should be: 1. Check all hoses for rubbing. 2. Check for pin holes (if I can). 3. Replace the coolant overflow jug. It's 20 years old and might just have a leak which would explain why there's never any coolant in it. I've seen no evidence of dripping down the inner fender, though. 4. Replace radiator cap. 5. Replace small hose from radiator neck to overflow jug.
If anyone has anymore ideas, I'm all ears. I'm getting a little tired of chasing this damn leak.

How many frost plugs are in the bell housing? If you own a Mitsubishi a coolant pressure testing tool is as necessary as a phillips screw driver I think. They are pretty cheap and make finding leaks like yours alot easier. You might want to think about lowering your coolant pressure as well, depending on your altitude and ambient temperatures.

...I folded up the hose, tied it off and forgot about it. Check it anyway.... plugging the hose won't stop a leak there... it leaks past the o-ring, around the threads and comes out between the fittings. Frank

You can get a UV dye kit for around $25 at the local parts store. The trick is you have to find the leak on the first warm up otherwise your hole engine bay will glow <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
