Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 95.5 Rodeo. I have 255's on 16 inch wheels and am pretty happy with my ride height and ride, as the vehicle sees mostly highway miles. My only gripe is that the rear bump stops mounted to the frame seem to be too conservatively limiting the upward travel, and a couple of times on the highway with a load of people and gear I have hit the bump stops, on a paved road.

Has anyone removed these or made them smaller?

TIA

Trim them maybe, removing them is not a good idea. You will bottom out at some point and bust your shocks.

Roll Me Over
I have broken two shocks (OME) by not having bumpstops.

Stockish or 1-3" lift, definitely keep them... as you lift the truck beyond that, they are potentially less necessary on the street, as you'll hardly be able to touch them. Off-road, they are even more important, in that they prevent inversion, but as you lift even beyond 6", it becomes harder to touch them -- but when you do, muy importente!

If you have good enough springs to flex to extremes, bump stops are critical... most folks simply don't get enough flex to benefit from bump stops on high-lift trucks, unless they resposition the bumpstops lower...

Note that your bumpstops may also protect your exhaust and shocks from getting smashed/broken.

If you have a 3" body lift, you can take out the 2" spacer and you will gain a lot of flex with an ever so slight rubbing at full flex. If you don't have the BL you're going to tear things up.

Thanks for the replys all... I don't have either a body lift or any lift on the rear springs. Actually I would like to research doing a mild lift on the rear, say 2 - 3 inches max. It seems like the rear sits lower than the front when I am packed up for a trip: 4 passengers, dog in the back, all the gear on top... even worse when towing my tent trailer.

But those bump stops only seem to allow only 2 - 3 inches of travel, and I'm pretty sure there should be more... The rear end doesn't seem to be sagging anymore than the first day we bought it new.

I think I'll try trimming an inch off of them, then explore options to lift the rear a couple of inches.

Thanks
