Getting the Wheeling Fever
Any one know a good place to snag a pair of third-member in 4.88. And how well will 4.88 turn 35" tires? Thanks Brett

also i could use some help finding some parts. I hit a cow a few weeks ago and boy did this set me back. I had just put in a LC Eng header with all new egaust. But now i am looking for a new after market bumper and grill and need some cool ideas. I will get some pics on when it is finished with its new paint. Im going to go black with a red pearl. But i need some help with some good front end bumper parts as well as a pre-runner or grille guard. Thanks

Try http://www.car-part.com/ and http://www.yotayard.com/ for a few places, as well as the Part Bin forums here: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?Cat=&C=30. Also might want to fill out your profile some folks know where you are and what you drive.

i would be looking for 5.29's if youre going to run 35's. regardless what gears you run, itll be pretty slow haha. but if you have 4.10s now, 5.29's will put you back to the stock w/ 35's and make your odometer right.

I would have to agree.
I've got 4.88's.

Although they do work with my 35" and the speedo is pretty close actually. Putting my street 33x12.50's makes a world of difference. I am contemplating 5.29's for my 35's now.

Mudrunner
I would have to second the car-parts.com sugguestion. Also, I found a real good local supplier in the local newspaper classified ads; so check your local paper.

As for the front bumper, check out http://www.crboffroad.com/ Some other folks here on 4x4wire got their bumpers from there. Good price and good lookin bumper.

In that thread on page 4 I think, there are some video links that show the bumper. Looks sweet on the 1st gen runner, prolly looks good on the 2nd gen trucks too. Not sure what your driving though.

hey thanks for all of you help ill have some pics of it on here when im finished. Its should be very nice. Im going to paint it too. But i also think im going to stick with 33" tires for now. But my last question is- How do the 4.88 do at higher speeds on high way. How fast will i be able to go with them with 33. Thanks Brett

Are you talking about the factory 4.88's? 'cause knowing what I know now...I wouldn't have gotten mine. I would just change the gears in the 3rds you have now or buy v6 or HP 3rds.

as far as maxing the truck out, you will not be able to redline it in 5th gear, with 33's. ive had 90 with 4.88s and 33's, going downhill, and it was near 5 grand.

4.88 is perfect with 33's, and not bad at all with 35's.
highway speeds (70-80mph) are fine with both.

btw ive got a 4.88 ifs front diff id sell pretty cheap. factory, not regeared. came out of a '95 4runner.
