 Will a 2nd gen front bumper fit on my 1st gen?

I'm in need of a bumper to get my '86 T4R saftied and there is a guy selling one for a '90 fairly close by me... will it fit? I don't want to be having to do a piss load of work to get it mounted, I just want to know if it will be the right width, and maybe with minor mods bolt up?
Anyone care to shed some light if this will work?

not hard to fit if you can weld a little bit.
87 4runner 33" bfg mt's no lift. dubbed the marine by my frinds. dead as of august 14 2005. 84 ex cab p/u 33"a/t, 3" suspension+3"bodylift, thorley header and 2.25xhaust, downey midrange cam+rocker set, very milled head! NO RUST!

Haven't welded in years... but I wont let something like in-experience and lack of know-how stop me! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
But I actually found a guy who's got the proper bumper for my Runner and he only wants $25 so that's not bad. Anyone have a picture of how a 2nd Gen looks on a 1st? Might still pick it up if it looks good enough

The bumper will be the right size, but the mounts wont work.
I tried to fit a 95 pickup bumper to my 88 4Runner and the mounts diddnt line up.

I have a pic of a 2nd gen bumper on a 1st gen, but can't attach it. This BBS only allows images posted elsewhere on the net... Host up on photobucket or imageshack; follow the formatting guidelines for your sizing in our FAQ (above).

Should bolt right up, but only with 4 of the 8 bolts. The 2nd Gen's also mount to the front body mount which is completely different from the 1st gen's... but really, it's not a big deal.
Now - will it fit right? I can't speak to that. My 86 x-cab had an ARB front bumper off of my 94 4Runner. Bolted on with minor mods to get around the front spring mounts (SAS'd).
Adam - what exactly didn't line up when you tried the other bumper?

So I've had some mixed oppinions... a few people who say it'll work no real issues, some say not a chance in hell, other say they've seen it done but think it will require alot of mods.
Anyone know for sure?
