Getting the Wheeling Fever
howdy, I keep getting code 42(faulty speed sensor)I thought maybe the wiring got burned so I rewired it and nothing changed The light only comes on at 2-3K rpms.

Can I run with it faulty untill I get it fixed or should I not drive it?

If it matters my speedometer does not work and its on a 88 4runner sr5.

The VSS is likely on the back of the speedometer, assuming it is a manual tranny. Might try fixing the speedo and see if that fixes the VSS code.
