Not a real technical question but maybe someone has fixed this very annoying problem before. Basically, The glue stuff that holds the hood skin to the rib structure is no longer holding. Now the hood vibrates like a mofo. What should I use to glue it back together? Needs to be able to take the heat from the engine.

I vote for JB weld. Or maybe the alimunim duct tape, not duck tape.
You could rivet it with stainless pop rivets in a nice pattern.

this is common.
mine's been like this since I bought it 6 years ago.

been curious about this as well...
jb weld probably isn't the stuff to use though -- you'll notice that this stuff on the hood is kinda squishy & somewhat pliable.

I've been thinking about getting some of that underhood insulation from JC Whitney anway. could probably stuff some of that up between the hood skin and the support runners before putting the main insulation sheet up.

just my .02...

JB Weld will not work, it needs to stay somewhat pliable. Go to an auto paint supply place and see what they suggest. Mine has been like that for years, but it does not bother me, trail rig only.

Not ideal solution - but if either of you can come up w a shipping method, I happen to have 2 extra hoods sitting in my garage...
otherwise, I 2nd JB weld, w/ real wled being more ideal but only if yer good and can avoid heat/distortion problems.

I say if you can't weld it, JB weld it. I used some on my radiator 4 years ago with the intention of replacing the radiator when the JB failed. It's still holding after mutiple croos country trips and a 130 degree drive through Death Valley last summer. Worst case scenario, it fails and your out three and a half bucks.

I think OPP's is right about it needing to be pliable. It also seems like there is supposed to be a small gap in between the skin and support....which prevents me from getting them flush to tack weld them together (or JB weld). The original glue stuff is almost like a rubber or silicon...guess I'll start looking for something similar.

Liquid nails will woratleast it did on a truck I sold last year. Whatever epoxy you choose, you will want to let it set-up before driving.

You could also wedge a piece of wood or thick rubber behind it, using a set screw through the rib to hold it in place.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

How about silicone. 100% only, not acrylic caulk. Silicone is $4.00 and can take some heat. Pretty sticky!
