Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I just purchased a speedo/tach instrument panel to replace the standard speedo only dash in my '88 pickup. I know I need to replace the oil pressure sender. I would like to roll back the miles about 30K to match the speedo I'm replacing. Is this hard to do? Anyone that can tell me how to do it please. TIA, Roy.
Hand me that crowbar.

There are write ups on how to do it. Technically it's illegal to mess with them at all (in terms of roll back). It's not easy to roll them back and I don't recommend it.
The *easiest* thing to do is to take the odometer roll (the thing with all the numbers on it) and swap this between the speedometers. It's easiest to do this by disassembling the speedometer itself. Pay attention to the speedo's are assembled as you'll want to get the trip meter.

i second that it is easier to move the onld to the new. They are built so that it is a pain in the rear to change. Swapping them can be a pain if the needles arent the same design, but it is doable.

Check this out. cluster swap It's what I used when I changed mine. I actually thought it was easier to roll it back, but that's just my 2cents worth.
