 Blinker woes

OP
Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I just built a flat bed and a front bumper. There great but my new blinkers front and rear still blink to fast, like there is one bulb out. I have been told that I need a heavy dutie flasher, because of the extra juice going through it.
Just looking for some advice, Thanks.

need a resistor in-line both sides, ihave same problem running l.e.d.'s....they draw just about no voltage
86 4runner,sas,35's,all pro d60 hybrid locked,rear spooled

need a resistor in-line both sides, ihave same problem running l.e.d.'s....they draw just about no voltage Actually a resistor in parallel with the light is one option, helps to increase the *current* to make the factory flasher relay think the bulbs are OK. For the flatbed wiring, might need to add blocking diodes to make the lights compatible or modify the flasher to flash slower: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=463125&highlight=fast+blinker

A buddy of mine had the same problem, so he added a second small turn signals(about 1,5" diameter) mounted just inside the wheel well on the bumper. The extra power it consumed returned the blinker flash to normal, and the 2nd blinker alerts drivers along side him.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

You can also snip a resistor on the relay that powers the TS for a constant rate blink.. you won't know when one fails however.

Fast easy cheap, go to your parts place and get the square heavy duty truck (18 wheeler) realy. You may have to make a pair of leads to connect it up. Pop off the cover and you will find a pot (adjustable Resistor) in there that allows you to dial in the speed you want. Big rigs need these because of the endless variations of turnsignal lamps and bulbs they may use. I use them in my cars just so I can set the speed I like. I use a speed just slower than normal cause I think it gives my car a cool subduded look that just gets your attention as a bit different. May sound funny but think of how a fast blinker makes you look nurotic and spazey <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

I agree that slow blinkers are cool, but nothing is cheeper than free. Thats why I decided to use the resister trick.
