Hey everybody, I've got a small issue that I've been trying to diagnose. My trooper (4cyl, automatic) will make a slight squeak as soon as you start moving in Drive (now that I think of it, haven't tried reverse) and then for every gear thereafter. It's a short squeak and only happens when shifting. I haven't ruled out the possibility that it's simply the body creaking on the mounts. This doesn't seem to be speed related. I can gently press the gas pedal and I can stomp on it and it'll make the same noise. I haven't had any luck having people on the ground listening to it as I drive yet. I did just get under the truck and grease up the driveshaft (thought it might be a u-joint or something). Basically, I know the truck is old, but I just want to make sure it's not coming from the transmission or transfer case. Well thanks in advance smile. Also, thanks to whichever mod moved my seafoam post. I didn't realize that I was in tech, whoops smile.

Body Damage is Cool
If it is a high pitched metal on metal type sounds it could be a lot of things. I found cracks in my rear spring hangers - the shackle to frame mount.

Maybe metal/weld fatigue as opposed to worn bushings or u-joints.
