Anyone know anything about putting a homemade Snorkel on a 1988 sammy
I am trying to help a friendà..i have a 89 dodge raider and mine was simple to make and works wonders in the wateràà when we installed his we had to take out some type of vacuum thing that opens a chamber when the pedal is to the floorà well that is what I think it is for ôI can get a picture if neededö the end of the Snorkel has little suction when runningà.. I am baffled about this situation ?????????? any have any incite at all please post or email at 7asana@gmail.com we have the Snorkel put on just needs some fine tuning I hopeààà

If you are just coming off of the air intake tube that runs through the fender, then you will have problems. That is the primary air intake, but the original air box has other intakes that open when needed. The easiest way is to replace the stock air box with a tube straight off the carb. Just plumb the other vacuum connections into the new tube and be done with it.

I made a snorkel for my Sidekick. I used a 2" hose from a vaccum cleaner. I just removed the plastic intake which runs under the fender. Got a 2.5" diameter tube and cut it 4 inches long. I connected that tube to the box rubber outlet, I then inserted the hose and ran it along the fender through a 2.5" hole I cut on the fender and ran it to the side of the front of the door and covered it with an ARB snorkel I got for 65 bucks at 4wheel parts store.


1985 Toyota 4x4 4Runner. 1989 Suzuki Sidekick 4x4.
