Howdy folks. Been a while. Well a friend of mine had bought this t-case short shaft conversion kit and he finally got around to doing it. Well he messed up and took it to a t-case shop. They are now saying he is missing $200 worth or parts. He lives up in Amarillo so i havent seen any of this yet. But here is his issue, they are saying that he is missing his T-case Mounting bracket. Now if my memory serves me correctly the t-case bolts to the tranny and the tranny bolts to the skid plate and that is just a flast piece of metal with holes for spacing. Then his speedo cable is no longer fitting properly and the part that the kit sent is the wrong one or it doesnt fit. The speedo cable issues is coming from the shop as is the "missing" t-case mount bracket. This is what he sent me. "I used the JB conversions super short kit on the NP231J transfer case and the tranny shop is telling me that i am missing a rear transmission mounting bracket. But when i took it apart i NEVER touched the side that connects to the tranny i just took apart the rear end off my back and my best guess is that if its a bracket connecting the tcase to the tranny it should be on the FRONT of the tcase ... oh wait thats the part i NEVER touched." So any help on this is greatly appreciated. I will try to get some pics up here soon in the near future. Thanks guys.

I bet they are lying, or think it is for a dodge.
The super short kit is NOT designed to work with the stock manual speedo.

He told me that his Short kit came with an adapter that was supposed to mount to the existing cable end and then go to the t-case from there. Sunder are you refering to the speedo assemble in dash, the cable or the speedo pieces in the case? Thanks man

From what I understand the super short doesn't have enough room for a manual drive cable, so they use a magnetic pick up. I'm not sure when jeep went from manual cable driven speedo to electronic. But if it is a manual cable driven speedo, I don't see how you can get it to work with the super short shaft kit peices.

Has anyone done this conversion with the JB short Shaft Conversion kit? My friend is now having troubles finding the right size u-joints for this project. Any recomendations for finding good u-joints. He has tried all the local auto parts places and all they offer are OEM replacements. Thanks guys
