Need a Spot
this is probably a simple answer, hopefully. what is the easiest way to mount the 'motor ground' wire on the solenoid motor for the Warn M8000? its on a YJ, the wire is super short. my question is where is this wire typically and most easily ground to? does it need to be to a non-painted surface? is the grille, or the winch mount, or the frame the best? is an extension sometimes needed? thanks for the help.

I would ALWAYS mount it directly to the main battery ground cable.. Even if I have to splice another ground wire to it.
Same for the positive wire.
You will need everything the battery has from time to time.
My favorite is one of the batteries with both Chevy and Ford posts on it. I like to use the chevy ones for the vehicle and the Ford ones for the winch.

Why not go with Warn's recommendation? If you bought it used and don't have a manual, email them.I've heard they give good customer service. Heck you might find it online. Reputable winch sellers like Harbor Freight make the manuals available online. I agree with BJ though a direct battery connection is best IMO.

Kfunk EASY is not what wiring up a winch is about! GOOD is the thing to keep in mind. NEVER ground a winch to the frame or body! Correctly wiring the winch will assure that it gets the amps it needs when you are in BIG TROUBLE! THINK about what you are doing and do it right the first time.
