Previous Thread Next Thread Print Thread Rate Thread 1988 Montero Backfiring #750629 09/10/06 06:11 PM Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 11 S sparky101 OP Need a Spot Have a 1988 Montero,2.6L engine,manual transmission,problem is when vehicle is decelerateing it seems to sputter and backfire.I have replaced the reed valve,egr valve,secondary air solenoid valve and alot of the vacuum lines but still no help,can anyone tell me what else could be causing this problem,could it be a leaking manifold issue or a carb problem.When car is accelerating it runs fine.Please help because I am running out of money and patience. My way of fixing it might also work for you.
