Gauge reads full when empty and what ever it feels like most of the time.

Yep, I just picked up a '99 Runner myself, and have this problem. There IS a TSB out for this. Depending on your VIN, either just the gauge needs R&R, or both the gauge and the tank (edit)sending unit need replaced.

That may be because it defaults to 1 week. You can set it to 5 years or more.
