Looking to get a decent tire for my 91 ranger i know this is a jeep forum but the all the ranger forums suck and you guys are fun to talk to and you know your stuff (i also have a 96 cherokee) so i am looking for tires that are good for minor off roading so i can go to my hunting spots in the woods yet good on the road i live in Pa. so they also have to be good in snow (not much highway driving) currently running BF Goodrich A/T 31" 10.50" i like them but not good in rain

Getting the Wheeling Fever
if you are looking for a good all around tire, i would recomend the yokohama geolander a/t's. They are good for almost anything, i mean they arent a swamper in the mud or anything, but they arent too bad.

Body Damage is Cool
My votes for Procomp AT's. They do quite a few buy 3, get one free deals. 50,000 mile treadware warranty. I've had mine going on 7,000 miles, and on 2 vehicles still look brand new. They are good offroad, but like what was mentioned, AT's arent a swamper, and they get slick in mud.

Rangerdude I have run just about every sort of tire both on and offroad. Long ago I came to the conclusion that AT's were designed to sell to the public but did little if anything more than a standard hiway tire.
In the rain I have found the Michlin M+S hiway tire to be the best by far. It will also get you as far offroad as most if not all so called "all terrain" tires.
Then you get to the heavy duty "mud" tires... These will take you where you need to go offroad.
I think the A/T was invented to satisfy the desire for guys to have a tire that LOOKED rugged but did not make a lot of hiway noise.
If I needed to drive in the rain much it would be the Michlin M+S for sure on my vehicle.

I've gotten good wear and all around use from a set of 31"x10.5 15" Dunlop Mud Terrain tires on my 1st gen 4Runner. Paid $109 each through Discount tire. They matched Tire Racks online price and includeded a full replacement warranty including sidewall damage. They work great in mud and snow,(I air down to 22 psi) highway noise is minimal compared to other MT's I've tried. My Dick Cepek Mt's were really loud, the Mickey Thompsons MT's wore really fast on pavement.
At 20K I've still got deep tread and only gotton 1 flat due to a 3" long stainless screw impaling itself on my tire, Discount fixed it for free with an internal patch.
After I get the Jeep lifted I'm planning on buying another set of the same tire. Total with mount and balance was under $500.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just my 2 cents. I ran Goodyear AT/S on my 99 Suburban and was very pleased with the mileage, traction, and ride. When I sold the Burb I had 30k on the tires and they seemed to have about 40% of the tread still to wear down. I drive to Tahoe in the mountains and heavy rain, snow and ice and they preformed nicely. I would have put them on my 04 GMC but they did not come in the right size for my wheels.
