http://www.rockhard4x4parts.com/cj7-79.htmlAbove is a link for a bolt in roll cage. Does anyone have any expereince with these. I like the way they bolt up to the dash and floor, they offer easy install, leg room and replacable components. But has anyone used these or seen these in action. In otherwords seen them installed on a vehicle during a roll over or after and how did they hold up? It's my head and other body parts that are important to me, though seldom used.

Body Damage is Cool

I don't have the full roll cage setup by Rock Hard. I took the full welded roll cage out of my CJ7 when I went to a fiberglass body, since I wasn't racing it anymore. But I needed a bolt-in harness bar, and I had heard good things about Rock Hard, so I called them. They made me a new, custom fitted (They asked me for exact measurements) harness bar to bolt to my roll bar. The workmanship was excellent. Each "Joint" is held by six hardened socket screws. I'd say a gull roll cage setup made by them would be good. Be prepared to get killed with shipping charges, though -- that stuff is large and heavy.
One way to be sure would be to call a racing sanctioning body, and see if they approve Rock Hard roll caages.
1977 CJ-7, fiberglass body, AMC 360 w/ headers, DUI ignition, Edelbrock intake and Holley 4150 carb, TF999, Dana 300, 4.56 gears lockers, York air comp, 4" susp lift, 2" body lift, BFG 35" M-T tires, Megashifter, AGR pump & box, REP8000 winch.

If you want to have real roll over protection, you know, something that is likely to hold up to more than a light trail lay over. Go welded and at least two/four frame tie ins and forget about convenience of removable parts. Cages are not convenient, they take foot room, you crack your head on them, they get in the way of dash servicing, they really only service one purpose, keep you from getting mushed.
Rockhard makes good stuff, that I would never run in my own rigs.

Yes. They are an easy install and very durable.
I have seen one that survived a bad roll-over with minimal cage damage.
Battle-tested -- they do work.
