Getting the Wheeling Fever
Long time members here may remember my trasplant of an '81 c223 into my '79 postal jeep, and the subsequent accident I got into with that vehicle. I am happy to announce that my rig is now back on the road--with a new frame and assorted new parts included bio-diesel compatible fuel lines. I wish I could claim all the credit, but this jeep seems to pull in all sorts of help all on its own. In one night, with the help of friends who just kinda kept showing up and not leaving, we stripped everything but the fuel tank off the old frame and installed axles, springs, engine, and tranny into the new frame. Talk about getting a good start.

Anyways, after roughly two months of sitting idle, the c223 fired right up. That is one forgiving little engine. I took the jeep on an offroad trip last weekend, and halfway through, it wouldn't start. Engine would turn over, but not fire. Thanks to the great posts on this site (Thanks Jerry!!) I was able to pretty quickly pinpoint the problem to the temperature sensor that is part of the glow plug circuit. I unplugged one wire and it fired right up!

Anyways, just thought I'd let you guys know there is one more c223 back on the road now. The jeep isn't "done" (are they ever?) but it's moving me around again smile

Takin' 'er easy,

Nice.
It's really neat when friends give us the push to make things happen.
I stood out in my driveway pondering how I was going to add a second 55 gallon drum to my biodiesel storage system, for hours it felt like. My son showed up with a couple of his buddies and a sixer. They thought my plan was good enough to get started and we could wing it the rest of the way. I was inspired enough to dig out the tools and materials and start right then and there. I couldn't appear to lack confidence in from of my son and his buddies. This was all the motivation I needed. It took us about an hour to frame it up with 4"x4" posts. A little more digging while they drank the beer and I found all the plumbing I needed to make one drum fill the other and bingo bango, it's all good.

Now I am beginning to get back into the swing of fabricating. I dug out a cheapo wire feed welder to make a wireless Internet tower. The thing is worthless. I couldn't make a bead to save my life with it. So I chucked it back in the pile I got it from and went down to my brother's house to retrieve my old faithful arc welder. With his help we have a twenty foot tower with a ten foot mast on top, steel rungs leading up to the top so I can work on the antenna and router. Feels great when a plan comes together.

Now I want to start fabricating all sorts of stuff for my 1986 turbo diesel Trooper. It need a heavy duty bumper with a receiver hitch and maybe I can find a winch for the front and make a bumper up there too.

Thanks for your update. It is very encouraging.
