Dam i know that feeling. the police and MTO boys have had a hard on for me for the last couple of years. Last year they pulled me over a couple of days in a row to inspect my truck. They could never find anything untill the last day when i got a little mouthy with them as they were making me late for work (they kept pulling me over next door to my work) and he finaly gave me a fix it ticket saying i needed flares for my tires as they were sticking out to far.. (they were only past the wheel wells by 3/4") as a truck drove by with at leat 8" of tire past the wheel wells. It was cheeper for me to fix it then loose the days off work to fight it. This year they did the same thing and could only get me on window tinting that has been their for over 5 years and gave me a full inspection ticket that i passed easily... I found out talking to one of the cops later that the MTO boy had it out for me and the only reason the cops pulled me the first time is the design of my bumper makes the truck looks higher than it actually sits and they could see that when i pulled in ... He also told me that the way i welded my skid plate to the bumper clasifyed the skid plate as part of the bumper and i was no ware close to being over because of that. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I ordered 4Crawler's kit for my '85 Toyota pickup, and that alone was impressive with the stock headlights. I also ordered Hella Vision Plus H4 housings and used the bulbs that came with them. They helped even more, but I'd have to say the harness was the biggest improvement. My lights don't look dim and yellow on the road anymore.

I liked the setup so much I ordered a second harness to use on my '90 4Runner. This time I'm going to hold off ordering more Hella H4 housings/bulbs until I see the improvement with just the harness alone.

If you're looking for the best, go with Cibie. I have the IPF H4 conversion headlamps, 4Crawler wiring harness, and 55/100 Hella bulbs, and while it is a huge improvement over stock, the Cibies are much better. Cost is hard to swallow, but man, I've never seen another halogen headlamp come close to the Cibies. If cost is an issue then the IPF or Hella H4 conversion lamps are good. Just be sure to get the wiring harness, that makes a noticeable difference by itself.

Just because I'm curious, why do you say the Cibies are so much better? Light pattern, build quality, something else?

The light pattern is flawless, no hotspots or dim areas. The amount of light they throw to the side of the vehicle is unbelievable. I've run the Hellas, I have IPFs presently, and the Cibies are in a league of their own, IMHO... I haven't seen the Roundeyes headlamp conversion, so I can't comment on those...

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I got the $29 autopal e code h4 headlights off of ebay and I have to say I am impressed.I dont know how long they will last, but beam dispersion is great and lights seem to be of very high quality.I also added 55/110 bulbs and hi beam is like daylight. The light makes a 180 degree sweep,no more dark spots.I am going to upgrade the harness next.Just am glad cops [and state inspectors] arent as watchfull in Virginia.

I have the cibies. I like them a lot. Very sharp low beam cutoff; great for oncomers (not so great for overhead sign illumination). great upper-right illumination for road side signs. E-code lamps (O.K. in AK, but no DOT alignment nipples as req'd for DOT lights - could be an issue in some states)

I've found with my h4 conversion (by bosch) that the low beams are so-so, but the high beams are great.
When i put the lever half way, so both of them are on, the lighting is perfect.
Anyone know how to jerry-rig the high beams so the highs AND lows go on?
