Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hope someone can shed some light on this problem for me.

On two of my Pajero's (2.5 diesel and 2.8 diesel) I have fitted steering dampners with return springs. After a short while, I've noticed that at low engine speed, the steering judders and the pump makes a squealing noise. Now, the belt's not slipping, and there is plenty of fluid on both. I've since taken the dampners off, but the problem still remains.

Any hints?

Cheers,

Chris

Chris buddy, I had similar symptoms on my last truck. Turns out I hadn't gotten all the air out of the system. There is a bleed screw on the top of the pump, and it fits a small airline perfectly, so you don't even have to make a mess. The FSM says to put the front wheels in the air (preferably on jacks) and then warm up the truck, and while idling, slowly turn the wheel back and forth from lock to lock, with the bleeder cracked, checking p/s fluid level all the time to make sure you don't run dry.

You've maybe done this already, but its a start?

Or even worse the pump has gone bad and can't keep pressure all the time. Like loosing compression on one cylinder on an engine. Those pumps are sturdy though since mine still holds up with my "stock" tires.

Thanks guys, will try that once I get my 2.8 back on the road with it's "stock" 37"s!! Will post some pics soon of the 3" body lift, conversion from auto to manual, and rear chassis cut, etc.

Am trying out a liquid to air intercooler off a Subaru as well as Propane injection (when it finally clears NZ customs!) So with a liitle increase in boost, it should perform well.

I consider those size to be stock. The guy who sold me them said they were "in stock" or something. I'm not all to familiar with this automotive lingo professionals use. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
