just out of curiosity, what do you set the alignment at for your sas'd truck?

got a nice alignment rack at work, used specs for an '85 pickup. my camber and caster are out of spec by a bit. caster is high, but the split is ok, so im not that worried. camber is around .2* i belive, but once again, even on both sides.

i just set the toe to spec, got the steering wheel straight and called it good. caster isnt a wear item anyways, and its even so it shouldnt pull to one side. and i think camber is alright. camber isnt adjustable anyways is it?

any thoughts?

Camber isn't adjustable on a Toy axle. Sometimes people run slightly higher camber and toe numbers on modifed rigs to compensate for bigger tires, etc. and its not a problem. Sounds like you are "good to go."

Caster can be adjusted... It's a @##$# though.. It's called cut and rotate your axles. Sometimes necessarity to cure death wobble and/or get your pinion angle right. What's it set at currently?

There are various garage means to adjusting toe.. most of the ones I've seen involve long straight pieces of metal secured to the wheel/hub and then doing some measuring.

Pirate has a few good posts on it.. If you don't have a star, you can google search pirate specifically.

Or bolt-in/weld-in shims can be used for small adjustments:

Camber can also be adjusted a small amount with either wedges under the spindles or offset knuckle bearings.

i've been told that for toyotas the tires should be toed in about and 1/8" on each side. has anyone else heard this?

if i wanted to get my caster in spec, i could using shims. but im not going to bother. it drives fine and a little extra caster isnt gonna hurt anything. as far as method of adjusting toe, ive got acces to a very up to date alignment rack so thats not an issue. im just talking numbers pretty much.

for the solid axle toys, i belive spec is very close to zero toe. if you were setting it with a tape measure, i would do zero. i think the ifs toys like a little more toe in. not entirely sure on how much. i used to do 1/8" total toe when i used to set it manually (with ifs).

Alignment technique I use:

with link to factory alignment specs. I run a little more caster than stock on mine as well, maybe about 1 degree more with the longer spring shackle.

Too much caster is probably fine (a few degrees) - it'll tend to stabilize your rig.

If you use shims as 4crawler suggested, they certainly work, but you're impacting the pinion angle at your 3rd. If you've got a stock transfer case and more than about 3-4" of lift, you'll get a vibration there beyond 20-25mph in 4wd. Whatever you do, make sure it doesn't bind at full droop.
